Tarheel Central Chapter MOAA

Serving Surry, Yadkin, Davie, Stokes, Forsyth, and Davidson counties in NC

President's Message

The Tarheel Central Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is a vibrant community of fellowship and high purpose, dedicated to fostering fraternal relations among our members and to promoting the purposes and objectives of the Military Officers Association of America. We welcome your interest in our unique organization and invite you to learn more about us from this website.

Established in 1978 as a 501(c)19 organization, our membership includes active, retired, reserve, veteran officers (Warrant- Flag Officer) of the Armed Forces, NOAA and US Public Health Services. Our members are still active in community affairs, business, various professional occupations, and volunteer services.

As members of the Tarheel Central Chapter MOAA, we take very seriously our outreach programs in our six constituent N.C. counties – Surry, Yadkin, Davie, Stokes, Forsyth, and Davidson.

The chapter actively supports 1 college ROTC (Wake Forest University) program and 22 high school JROTC programs in the community. Annually, through member donations, the chapter awards two $1,500 scholarships to college bound graduating JROTC high school students and MOAA Leadership Medals to other deserving JROTC students.

Our members also support three military oriented worthy causes: Triad Honor Flight, Toys for Tots, and the Marine Corp League Mud Run.

Members, prospective members, spouses, and guests meet monthly on the second Tuesday at Salem Glen Country Club, 1000 Glen Day Drive in Clemmons. The dress is business casual. The cost is $25 per person including coffee and tea. A cash bar is available. The social hour begins at 5:45 p.m. followed by announcements and dinner. Along with the comradery during the evening, we get to enjoy a member’s military experience during the after dinner ‘My Story’ segment, and there is always an interesting and informative after dinner guest Speaker.

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with our Chapter and be our guest one night soon as a prospective member.

Take Care and Beware,

Phil Briscoe
