Wreaths Across America - 2025

Our third participation was again highlighted by the attendance of the Sugar Valley Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol.
Ms Connie Baker reminded us of President Ronald Regan's words “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We do not pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children, and our children’s children, what it was once like in the United States where men were free”
At the close of the holidays we contributed to the retrieval of the wreaths.
The President of the local Elks Lodge who coordinated this very well attended day announced that a total of some 735 wreaths had been purchased, enough for every buried veteran in the Cemetery. A first and a wonderful indicator of growing support for this and similar memorial events.
At the laying of the wreath we read the veterans name aloud, giving recognition to the individual, instead of just a simple act of laying a wreath at a memorial plaque.
