Our own member, Vernon Robinson, Capt, USAF (Vet) presented us with a detailed insight to Russia's the women pilots during WWII. Pilots who flew as many as 1000 sorties during the war.

Highlighted were the "Night Witches" who specialized in night time bombing of German targets flying bi-winged aircraft and the tactic of engine off gliding to their release point. Their Russian name was "Night Sparrows".

Others were fighter pilots of different planes including the YAK 3 which was faster and more rapid turning than the US Mustang fighter!
